Brett W. Hysinger, President and Chief Executive Officer at DMV Fitness, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of business development.
Mr. Hysinger was inspired to start his fitness company in 2020 after more than a decade as a triathlon coach and a leader in business development, through which he helped people with career planning. Seeing an opportunity to expand his efforts, he started DMV Fitness, a Virginia-based family-oriented fitness environment dedicated to helping people grow and live healthier, more balanced lives—physically, mentally, and spiritually.
A certified personal trainer, with several fitness credentials including CrossFit and HYROX World GmbH, Mr. Hysinger is focused on giving back to his community and having a positive impact on people’s lives through guidance on health, wellness, personal growth, and development, all through a holistic lens grounded in Christian values. His company offers customized fitness programs, nutrition coaching, and a supportive community through in-persona and virtual engagement. Since its founding, DMV Fitness has expanded to include half a dozen locations across Virginia and Maryland, with potential growth into a third state. Additionally, they are in the process of launching a custom app.
Wielding degrees in business administration and public finance, Mr. Hysinger started his career as a management and budget analyst within the city of Chattanooga, Tennessee, from 2004 to 2005 before moving to Virginia, where he began working in the consulting field. He served as a senior consultant at Robbins-Gioia and program manager at Apogen Technologies across three years. He subsequently worked in the federal space for seven years, advancing from the branch chief to director of U.S. Customs and Border Protection between 2008 and 2015. He was subsequently active as vice president of Enterprise Information Services before running his own management-consulting firm, Brett Hysinger and Associates, and leading numerous businesses, including InquisIT, All Native Group, JCS Solutions LLC, and Bodwé Group.
With the broad perspective he has gained, and ability to unify geographically dispersed organizations and groups to collaborate and plan for future growth, Mr. Hysinger is now replicating this approach at DMV Fitness. In addition, he hosts a podcast “Stronger By the Day,” which is dedicated to inspire and empower individuals on their journeys to holistic well-being, highlighting faith, family, and fitness. He is also a dedicated member of Project Management Institute, Inc. and the National Association of Sports Medicine.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Hysinger’s goal is to establish and develop organizations in a way that ensures they can continue to function and grow independently, without his daily involvement. He aims to build strong leadership teams and capabilities that support succession planning, allowing him to provide support while moving on to assist in new areas.
