Matthew M. Porcelli, Security Manager at Harvard Protection Services, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the fields of law enforcement and security.
Raised in the Roman Catholic faith in New Jersey, Mr. Porcelli has felt a deep calling to protect and serve others from a young age. This calling led him to pursue a career in law enforcement, which he began by earning a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice from Caldwell University. Through this pursuit, he found that security and protection are a calling and not a profession—he started out as a volunteer auxiliary police lieutenant with the Roseland Police Department from 2004 to 2014 while serving as a police/9-11 emergency dispatcher with the Maplewood Police Department from 2008 to 2009; during this time, he reassessed his path and started to shift his focus to the security industry.
Dedicated to protecting people and property, Mr. Porcelli found success as a shift supervisor for Securitas Security Services USA, Inc. He was subsequently active as a security operations manager across the companies, Global Elite Group and U.S. Security Associates, Inc. He further bolstered his expertise by attaining a Master of Science in Administration of Justice and Security from the University of Phoenix, plus coursework at the FBI Citizen’s Academy and numerous certifications in the field, including through the Institute of Strategic Risk Management and the International Foundation for Protection Officers.
Since 2017, Mr. Porcelli’s excelled as a security manager and contract safety and security management specialist at Harvard Protection Services. There, he assists clients in mitigating threats or safety issues with security officers and acts as an imperative pipeline between them and his employer. An accomplished figure in his field, he’s written articles for more than 50 industry publications and recently appeared as a guest on the Security Circle Podcast in 2024; as a further testament to his impact, he’s accrued numerous accolades, such as an Outstanding Young Security Professional Award, and was listed among the International Security Journal’s “Top 25 Influencers of the Year.”
In addition to his primary responsibilities, he devotes time and energy to such civic endeavors as Habitat for Humanity International, Airline Ambassadors International, The Security Institute, and as an advisory council member for the Crisis Response Journal. Looking toward the future, he’s committed to continuous improvement and lifelong learning in security. He remains dedicated to refining his expertise in protection and aims to enhance his skills consistently.
