Joey Diab, Vice President of Engineering at Toers, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of engineering.
Growing up in Lebanon, Mr. Diab was curious from a young age about how things functioned, which led him to take apart every game he owned and investigate the parts. This hands-on experience would ultimately guide him toward a career in the computer industry. But before that, he experienced the tragic loss of his father during the war in his home country, fueling further determination to succeed and make a difference in the world.
Newly focused, Mr. Diab dedicated himself to his studies in computer science at the University of Technology at Compiegne, attaining an engineering diploma in 2009. That same year, he continued to build his credentials by earning a master’s degree in computer engineering in Spain. This educational journey equipped him with valuable skills and led to an engineering internship at Apple, marking the beginning of a fruitful and impactful career in technology. He subsequently advanced at the company, serving as a software localization engineer, an engineering manager, a senior engineer manager, and a senior product manager across numerous programs.
Playing a key role in enhancing user experiences, Mr. Diab notably designed the first Arabic keypad on the iPhone in 2009, a significant step toward making technology more inclusive. He’s contributed significantly to international relations by ensuring that his products are accessible to people worldwide. In addition, he has a commendable track record of building software that caters to the needs of people who speak different languages, have disabilities, or face other challenges.
Mr. Diab then excelled at Dropbox from 2019 to 2022, being promoted from a senior technical product manager to a senior engineering manager. He returned to Lebanon to work as the Chief Technology Officer at CedarXneo and held leadership positions at Toters. Since 2022, he’s been a CTO, Chief Product Officer, and co-founder of Al Rawiya and Head of Technical Partnership at Ramp since 2024. In her current capacity, he manages nearly 100 engineers across different functions and builds algorithms.
Outside of his primary endeavors, Mr. Diab has been a city representative for San Francisco for Meghterbin Mejtemiin, a global network empowering the Lebanese community through advocacy, education, and fundraising. He’s also been an Execs On Deck Fellow for OnDeck Capital since 2023. Looking toward the future, he’s motivated to create more change in the world; he’s committed to leveraging his skills and resources to help people in need and improve access to essential resources. Additionally, he has ambitious plans to grow his business and expand the reach of Al Rawiya on a global scale. He’s dedicated to making a lasting impact and contributing to a brighter future for all.
