Seeking for a change and new opportunities, she then ventured out as a contractor with Voya Financial in 2022. Her exceptional performance and expertise led to her being brought on board as a full-time financial analyst; her experience and qualifications have made her a valuable asset to her team.
One of Ms. Smith’s most major achievements at Voya Financial has been spearheading a project that involved developing a monthly report of the Profit and Loss outcomes, which was presented to the senior leadership, including the chief operating officer. By creating this report, she provided insights into the financial performance of the company and helped the leadership team with their quarterly planning. Such a project had not been initiated before and she was asked to lead it. Throughout the project, she was able to collaborate with many people across the company, which made her proud of her work and accomplishments. Additionally, she has been an active volunteer within the company’s LGBTQ+ Employee Council, Hispanic and Latino Council, Women’s Council, NextGen Council, and African-American Council.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Smith has set her sights on acquiring a wealth of knowledge and experience, not just in GAAP and statutory reporting but also in the broader scope of the company and industry where she works. She hopes this will allow her to move into a position where she can leverage her passion for process improvement and nurture new hires through mentorship and development.
