Dhwani Vora, Software Engineer at Amazon, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of information technology.

Born and raised in India, Ms. Vora gravitated toward her profession at a young age. She ultimately earned a Bachelor of Technology in computer engineering from Charotar University of Science and Technology in 2015. While pursuing her degree, she gained experience at Tata Research Development and Design Center, a software company based in Pune. Between 2014 and 2017, she advanced from a project trainee to a natural language processing and machine learning researcher and software engineer.

Ms. Vora relocated to the United States in 2018 to attend the University of Utah, where she was active as a graduate teaching assistant and ultimately obtained a master’s degree in computer science, honing her passion for coding and problem solving through technology; during her studies, she served as an intern at Lucid, a software company based in Utah where she was involved in creating websites and APIs. In addition to her formal education, she acquired numerous certifications, including an Oracle Certified Professional designation as a Java SE 6 Programmer, and completed various Coursera courses on machine learning, big data, cryptography, and algorithms.

Shifting from research-focused work to more customer-facing positions, Ms. Vora excelled as a software engineer with Expedia Group before joining Amazon in Seattle, Washington, in 2020. In her current role, Ms. Vora designs services and creates software, applying her extensive knowledge in distributed systems and scaling large systems. She has developed insights for Amazon Halo to provide users with interesting information about their activity and biometrics on the app.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Ms. Vora has previously contributed to the technical articles “A Domain Specific Search Engine for Material Sciences Literature” and “A Relation Aware Search Engine for Materials Science.” She’s also long been actively engaged in civic activities, volunteering with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and a local animal rescue; she also sponsors the Environmental Defense Fund.

Looking toward the future, Ms. Vora strives to make a meaningful impact by using technology to address everyday human challenges. Recognizing India’s burgeoning tech field, she hopes to return and engage in rural outreach or grassroots initiatives. Her ultimate goal is to accumulate resources to support her efforts in India. She’s not planning to marry, choosing instead to dedicate her life to learning and helping others, values deeply instilled by her mother. She aspires to use technology to assist animals and underprivileged people and perhaps establish her own company to further these efforts in the future.
