Ms. Cotton was inspired by her mechanic friend to learn more about computers. She carried out this interest in her academic pursuits, receiving a Bachelor of Science in management information systems at the Peter Kiewit Institute at the College of Information Science and Technology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2004. While matriculating in college, she was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Though this was difficult to learn, it fueled her to remain strong and depend on her faith in God. She was also supported through this by family.

Throughout all of her endeavors thus far, the highlight of Ms. Cotton’s career has been her affiliation with the International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Phi.
