Karina P. Stafford, Office Manager and Marketing Assistant at Caring Hands Hospice LLC, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of marketing.
Since immigrating to the United States from Russia in 2018, Ms. Stafford has excelled as a creative marketing and wellness brand specialist and community builder through her business, the Catalyst Tea Company. A passionate and versatile marketing professional with expertise in content creation, community engagement, corporate partnerships, and experiential branding, she built her brand from the ground up, developing seasonal campaigns, hosting immersive workshops, and managing e-commerce operations. She balances these responsibilities with her role at Caring Hands Hospice, which provides physical, emotional, social, and spiritual support to patients and their family, where she’s been active as an office administrator since 2024, managing its marketing and handling paperwork and making calls as needed.
Wielding a substantial background in journalism, Ms. Stafford earned a joint degree in the translation of professional communications in Russian and English from Russian State Social University, and a Master of Arts in Erasmus Mundus Journalism, media, and globalization from both Aarhus University in Denmark and the University of London in 2014. In the midst of her education, she worked as an editorial assistant intern with the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation, a B2B journalist intern at MediaLine Publishing House, a journalist at Jutland Station, and a business journalist intern at RBC Media Holding. Being in this field, she was always curious about marketing and working with people. Upon arriving in the United States, she shifted gears from journalism. Having grown up in the countryside, herbal tea was something she had always been passionate about, and she was subsequently motivated to pursue a tea-related project. Attending a World Tea Expo in Los Angeles, she was incredibly inspired, encountering people around the globe showcasing their teas and herbs; that’s when her journey began.
Ms. Stafford subsequently embarked on re-educating herself by taking specialized qualifications course to become herbalist and started developing her own tea blends, driven purely by her imagination and desire to create something unique. Just as she was getting started, however, COVID-19 began spreading, leading to lockdowns. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, she grew the business from home, applying for various licenses and building a website, managing every aspect—from packaging to photography. After trying multiple herbs and products, she began participating in local farmers’ markets shortly after COVID restrictions eased. Through her hard work and effort, Catalyst Tea Company became a community-focused business, built on connections through social media, organized events, and women’s circles. Currently, she has people consistently attend her workshops and express their admiration for her creations. Even in a completely different country than her own, she has felt welcomed and supported by a likeminded community.
Since 2024, Ms. Stafford has been active as a tea blending instructor for Clark County, providing classes almost weekly at Silverado Ranch Community Center, primarily for the elderly. Through these circles and interactions with older adults, she met a woman who ran Caring Hands Hospice; together, they began offering sound healing sessions as part of tea events, which she then brought to various nursing homes and memory care facilities. In addition to her primary role at the hospice, she designs projects for an organization called Champions of Hope, which supports families facing cancer. There, she conducts sound healing sessions and art therapies. She’s previously served as a researcher for the Big Hearts Foundation, a supporter of Champions of Hope, and a donator of the Ronald McDonald House.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Stafford aims to establish a wellness studio. This studio will serve as a hub for education and personal growth, and feature spaces for yoga classes, retreats, and community events. She has many friends who are yoga teachers and sound healers, each with unique modalities they’re eager to share, but struggle to find a suitable venue. Therefore, she envisions creating a space where these individuals can come together and offer their services. To those aspiring to succeed in their careers, she advised that no matter how difficult things may seem, it’s important to “stay determined, be excited about the work, and persistently explore different ways to solve problems.”
Outside of work hours, Ms. Stafford enjoys meeting with friends and doing art activities, drawing, practicing yoga, walking in nature, and spending valuable time with her son. Just when she thinks about relaxing and enjoying a cup of tea, however, she often decides to make a video about it instead.
