Wielding a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Michigan State University, Mr. Miller worked through college and was invited to the Sears Executive Leadership Program, which he attended for about nine months. He eventually transitioned to the hardware industry around 1998 and has remained there ever since, advancing from a sales representative to product manager at Campbell Hausfeld before holding leadership roles at Hitachi Power Tools, SENCO Brands, and The Hillman Group. As his career progressed, he moved into executive sales roles, including director of national accounts for Home Depot.
Since 2020, Mr. Miller has excelled at Ideal Garage Solutions—a prominent leader in garage transformations—through which he also built a leading remodeling company, Garage Envy, in the Tri-State. He co-owns the business with his wife, Melody, its office manager and procurement leader, after they purchased the business in June 2020, venturing into the unknown during the pandemic. Among his responsibilities, he manages work orders and guides projects, including municipal, residential, and commercial opportunities, and overall finds solutions for customers and makes garages “as nice as any room in the house.”
In addition, Mr. Miller has trademarked a patent for an integrated duplication machine, including a machine-based key identification module—a method of identifying house and car keys.
Diligent, creative, and curious, Mr. Miller has long been driven to accomplish a lot. He believes in never giving up, consistently working hard, and never doing less than 40 hours weekly to stay engaged and “in shape.” Looking toward the future, his goals include increasing the Ideal Garage Solutions business by 33 percent and eventually handing it over to his oldest son, who currently serves as one of the team leaders. He’s also involved in business groups like Conduit and CAP, teaching underprivileged students essential skills and helping them build a foundation for their future careers.
