Clayton Johnson, Systems and Development Analyst II at MidAmerican Energy Company, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of information technology.

Accumulating nearly 30 years in the IT and utilities industries, Mr. Johnson wields expertise in hardware support, server administration, escalations management, software updates, and emerging technologies. Since 2019, he has excelled in his role at MidAmerican Energy Company, where he supports customer service phone systems and automation, coordinates with carriers, leads project teams on occasion, and strives to continue exploring substantial leadership and managerial responsibilities. Before this position, he served as an ACD Systems Administrator and a Unified IP Analyst II at the company and found success as a senior hardware technician at Pomeroy Technologies LLC. He previously served as a professor at Eastern Iowa Community College for many years up until 2018.

All throughout his career in IT, Mr. Johnson has also lent his time and effort to the Metropolitan Community Church of the Quad Cities, where he’s been active as the Director of Music Ministry since 1998. A skilled organist and keyboardist, he has participated in and won several music festivals. He has also been a volunteer with local disabled veterans and has long supported a program that provides comfort therapy animals to veterans with PTSD to assist in their recovery and adjustment. In addition, he’s been a donor through United Way and the Wounded Warrior Project.

Attributing his success to his ability to adapt his thinking as he worked for different companies with varying philosophies and procedures, Mr. Johnson has always learned quickly and understood the critical aspects of a situation—allowing him to provide well-informed feedback and analysis. Looking toward the future, he’s considering the possibility of early retirement and aims to ultimately transition into a more flexible work arrangement, such as contract work. But until then, his goal is to successfully complete three ongoing projects and perhaps find a role where he can continue to teach and share his accrued knowledge.

On a personal note, Mr. Johnson recently turned a dream into reality when he purchased a 1905 cobble cottage in the town where he grew up.
