Matthew Alan Stover, Senior Research Specialist at Chartis Research, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of energy.

Backed by a degree in chemical engineering and more than a decade in the oil and gas industry, Mr. Stover has excelled in his role at Chartis, a leading provider of research and analysis on the global market for risk technology, since 2023. Focused on risk technology in energy and commodities, he conducts research to gather diverse data and draw conclusions about market trends; develops an understanding of specific software products and industry strategies; and writes and peer reviews reports, incorporating numerous data sources.

Before this position, Mr. Stover was a financial engineer at Rocky Mountain Resource Partners, LLC, and a reservoir engineer at Four Corners Petroleum LLC. He was previously active as a reservoir engineer across such companies as Four Corners Petroleum LLC, Elk Petroleum, Inc., and Chaparral Energy. While at Elk, he managed the challenging task of filling a 30-mile oil pipeline without using pumps while adhering to stringent filling rate requirements—including thorough calculations and ingenuity. Initially intimidated by the daunting assignment, for which even his colleague with three decades of experience in pipeline work lacked the requisite expertise, he achieved the controlled loading of the lengthy pipeline using only gravity and ensured that the fluid neither moved too swiftly nor too slowly. To this day, he considers this his most significant career achievement. Mr. Stover began his career in 2006 as an engineer with Advanced Processing Technology Inc., where he found success for six years.

Outside of his primary endeavors, Mr. Stover has lent his time and effort to his role as a troop leader for the Girl Scouts of Colorado since 2023 and has previously been involved with the Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity, as a mentor and tutor at GEAR UP, and as an assistant scientist at Norman North High School. He served for many years as a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Stover strives to rapidly familiarize himself with the energy industry, attain expertise in the field, and transition toward a role focused on client engagement, advisory work, and collaboration with organizations. He hopes to reduce involvement in mass reporting and allocate more attention to client-centric activities. In 10 years, he aspires to oversee substantial research endeavors at Chartis or another reputable institution.
