Veda Vyas Anumula, Badminton Head Coach and Operations Manager at Visatra Sports, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of athletics.
Born and raised in India, Mr. Anumula began playing badminton at 10 years old and became a national champion by 12. Disciplined and driven throughout his youth, he was a professional athlete with the Badminton Association of India for more than a decade, during which he earned a Bachelor of Arts from the North East Frontier Technical University in 2020.
After winning a series of junior national bronze medals, Mr. Anumula received a call from Olympic medalist and world champion P.V. Sindhu, inviting him to be her sparring partner in preparation for the Olympics. The opportunity came at a time when he was enduring six knee surgeries that had forced him to stop playing, leading him to think his career was over. H would serve as her sparring partner and assistant coach at the Suchita Badminton Academy from 2020 to 2023, which reignited his passion and motivation; he ultimately helped her win a medal, spearheaded comprehensive training modules, orchestrated successful tournaments, and facilitated several cross-cultural learning experiences for his numerous students. The experience also led him to take the next step by moving to the United States.
Mr. Anumula subsequently attended Texas Tech University, where he was active as a graduate student assistant and ultimately earned a master’s degree in sports management in 2025. While pursuing his academics, he interned at the Houston Badminton Academy and the Triangle Badminton Club in North Carolina, where he later worked for a year as a coaching operations specialist. In this capacity, he combined elite-level coaching with behind-the-scenes operational leadership for players at varying skill levels, from beginners to elite.
Additionally, Mr. Anumula was active as a senior coaching consultant at Peak Sports Apex before becoming the badminton head coach and operations manager at Vistara Sports in Texas. At the multi-sport facility club, he manages the day-to-day operations, oversees tournaments and scheduling, and both designs and leads data-driven programs and athlete development initiatives.
Looking ahead, Mr. Anumula is seeking to enhance his club and promote badminton. Currently, many people are leaning toward pickleball and tennis, but he wants to encourage them to try badminton and enjoy the sport, with his goal over the next five years to attract as many individuals as possible to it. As a further testament to his dedication to the sport, he is a longtime member of the Badminton World Federation and USA Badminton.
