From an early age, Ms. Lampkin was intrigued by the field of biology and knew it would be a part of her life’s trajectory. In her role as a medical technologist, Ms. Lampkin is responsible for plating blood culture, identifying the organism in the patient’s blood, processing specimens, antibiotic testing and analyzing results. She reports to doctors and nurses, completes PCRs, inoculates the patient’s sample in, and then incubates it for at least 16 to 24 hours to see what’s growing. She has served as a medical technologist with St. Peter’s Health Partners since 2020. She maintains professional affiliation with the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
Ms. Lampkin first earned a Bachelor of Science in biomedical technology at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and went on to receive a master’s in clinical laboratory sciences from the institution, magna cum laude, in 2020. In the next five years, Ms. Lampkin would like to expand her knowledge in microbiology and venture out to other disciplines within the clinical laboratory. She attributes her success to her hard work and determination to get things done.
