Stephen Michael Short, Vice President at Capstone Partners, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of accounting.

Upon graduating from Samford University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting, Mr. Short launched his career at Whitley Penn, LLP, a prominent accounting firm in his home city of Dallas, Texas. Between 2014 and 2019, he advanced from an associate external auditor to a senior associate external auditor, during which he gained extensive accounting experience and exposure to industries including oil and gas, energy, real estate, health care, tech, retail, and manufacturing.

Mr. Short subsequently worked in property accounting at EnLink Midstream LLC, a Fortune 750 oil and gas company, for a year—serving as a “Swiss army knife” for mid-market companies—before transitioning to Riveron Consulting, LLC, where he served as a senior associate and manager from 2020 to 2022. He was then recruited by Capstone Partners in 2022. There, he joined a new advisory division that collaborates with investment banking, a role he found perfectly suited to his background. Since then, he has viewed this opportunity as a breakthrough that affirmed his long-standing interest in investment banking; he has remained committed to staying in the mid-market space as a “jack-of-all-trades.”

Looking toward the future, Mr. Short’s primary goal is to establish his own financial consulting firm. He envisions a decade-long journey to develop his reputation, expertise, and experience in the industry. He plans to remain with Capstone Partners for several more years because he values working with the team, which he considers intelligent and accomplished, and which constantly inspires his growth.

On a personal level, he wishes to prioritize spending time with loved ones and building meaningful relationships, and continue helping others and nurturing connections. In his free time, he enjoys snowboarding, surfing, working out, and traveling.
