Robert Eugene Ables, Technical Services Supervisor at KLX Energy Services, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of oil and gas.

Attributing his success to staying busy, solving problems, and having a strong work ethic, Mr. Ables initially gravitated toward a career in the oilfield out of necessity. Upon graduating from high school, he aspired to enlist in the military but found himself with a full scholarship to study music at New Mexico State University—where he completed coursework in 1990. However, at 18, he became a father and needed a job and a good income. The only ones available were in the oilfield, an industry he quickly became naturally equipped for. At Hobbs Rental Corp., he worked as a safety valve technician—testing and repairing safety relief valves in gas plants and field stations—from 1990 to 1993. He subsequently served as a jar technician at Schlumberger, disassembling, inspecting, and reassembling fishing jars, from 1993 to 2016 and then as a field service technician at Baker Oil Tools from 2000 to 2003.

Between 2003 and 2016, Mr. Ables also found success as a jar technician at Key Energy Services and then as a fishing tool supervisor at Weatherford. In addition, he was active as the general manager at O&S Quick Change Inc., a reverse operator at Knight Oil Tools, and then served as a supervisor and a part-time shop mechanic at Pace Oilfield Services from 2016 to early 2023. Since 2022, he has been a technical services supervisor at KLX Energy Services, a leading onshore provider of a wide range of oilfield services. Proud of his longevity in the industry and ability to “take care of business,” his strong work ethic was instilled in him when he was a child as he spent his summers working on a farm.

In the coming years, Mr. Ables strives to live comfortably, continue to work, travel, go to concerts, and spend time with his loving family, including his wife, Natrice, two children, and three granddaughters.
