Rev. John Alfred Quann Sr. has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of religion.
Guided by a love and passion for his faith, as well as the leadership of his hero Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Rev. Quann has dedicated his life to being caring, respectful, helpful, and giving to others. Always wanting to better humanity, he became involved in the church at a young age, culminating in his role as a reverend, most actively at Greater Calvary Baptist Church in Atco, New Jersey. Through his ministerial services, he has held expertise in Nouthetic Counseling, providing people with Bible-based consultation and teaching in order to help them through problems they may be facing.
In addition, Rev. Quann gravitated toward the military, serving in both the U.S. Air Force and Army for 10 years in each branch, for which he has been honored with an Army Achievement Medal and several service ribbons. He worked as a services technician at Camden County Board of Social Services in the 1980s, visiting senior citizens’ homes to assist with activities of daily living; a behavioral health technician and labor crew supervisor for P.I.L.O.T. Services in the 1990s, through which he advocated for the needs of developmentally disabled clients and coordinated community events and activities. At Archway School in Waterford Township, he utilized his skills to plan and coordinate all afterschool activities and tutored students as the after-school program director. Between 2003 and 2008, he prepared meals for hundreds of people as a dietician assistant at the Presbyterian Haddonfield Home, served as a sales support assistant at JCPenney, transported patients through the hospital on behalf of the Department of Veterans Affairs, and held many responsibilities as a security guard for Allied Security.
Outside of his primary endeavors, Rev. Quann is an active volunteer in his community and is a member of several organizations, including the Disabled American Veterans, Camden County Library Literacy Volunteer Program, and the American Society of Notaries. In September 2022, he added “author” to his list of professions with the publication of his book, “You Are So Wise, Yet So Foolish: The Secret Wisdom is Knowing God: 1 Corinthians 2:7.”
In preparation for his career, Rev. Quann earned a Bachelor of Science in Urban Ministry and Management/Biblical Counseling from Geneva College in 1997 and has studied Eastern Seminary. He was officially ordained by Dr. Rudolph Johnson in 2009 and committed himself to live life with “a good conscience and a sincere faith.”
