While earning two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s in applied sociology from East Tennessee State University between 2017 and 2020, Ms. Tanny accrued work experience as a statistics tutor at the Center for Academic Achievement and as a field researcher at the Applied Social Research Laboratory. She then pursued a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Wake Forest University School of Law—where she worked as a research assistant and served as the executive editor of its Journal of Law & Policy—and ultimately attained the degree in 2023.
As a legal intern and then an associate attorney at Gala Games between 2022 and 2024, Ms. Tanny gained experience in various areas of law; here, she was particularly interested in regulatory compliance and financial technology, especially given Gala Games’s operations using blockchain technology. Ms. Tanny emphasized that she achieved most of her goals through perseverance even when overwhelmed with fear and that “if she can succeed, so can others. ” She strives to continue improving her skills in integrating technology into the legal profession and encourages other lawyers to do the same, as she believes it is essential to the field.
Outside her primary endeavors, Ms. Tanny has contributed articles to the Journal of Sustainable Tourism and the Journal of Appalachian Studies and volunteers with Veterans Affairs, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the American Red Cross, and a local Presbyterian church.
