Naomi Janel Rayas, Student Services Adviser at Central Coast College, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of educational services.
A strong administrative professional with lots of compassion and empathy for others, Ms. Rayas has found it rewarding to be in her position as it has allowed her to provide students with tools, resources, and counseling to achieve their academic and career goals. Whether she’s visiting classrooms and building relationships with students, substitute teaching for other instructors, meeting with students one-on-one, or planning events related to community resources, contributing to the educational journeys of others gives her great joy. Long affiliated with the college, she previously advanced from a receptionist to an administrative assistant before stepping into her current position.
Ever since she was young, Ms. Rayas has had a positive mindset and has been motivated to do her best. Coupled with this has been a strong work ethic and value for education, which were instilled in her by her parents. She initially aspired to be an elementary school teacher and has shaped her goals in the education field over the years. Upon graduating from high school, she worked as a jewelry associate before earning a diploma in computer office administration, business administration, and management from Central Coast College in 2016. One of her most noteworthy achievements in the midst of her career has been her willingness to continue her own education: she is currently pursuing an Associate of Applied Science from the college and plans to attain a bachelor’s degree in psychology afterward. In addition, she hopes to earn a master’s degree in counseling and therapy and eventually become a family and marriage therapist.
