Maggie Hu, Esq., Attorney at MG Law Group PLLC, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of law.
Born and raised in China, Ms. Hu’s family relocated to the United States in her last year of middle school. Enrolled at an arts high school, she had to simultaneously learn the English language, academics, and music. Upon graduating, having overcome all the challenges she faced in a new country, she attended Baruch College in New York, where she excelled academically and earned a bachelor’s degree in international business. While she initially planned for a business career, to follow in her mother’s footsteps, a law course at Baruch changed her life.
However, given her non-native status and the fact that her English skills fell short for such a language-centric education at the time, Ms. Hu found her first year at Brooklyn Law School incredibly difficult. She had to grasp, understand, and decipher a whole new language of legal terminology—the eventual success of which was her most rewarding achievement. She ultimately blossomed in her studies and completed an internship at the Doyaga & Schaefer Law Office and served as a legal assistant at the Law Offices of Howard B. Weber and as a mediator at the Brooklyn Law School Mediation Clinic. She ultimately attained a JD in real estate and international studies in 2016 and was subsequently admitted to the bar in New York and New Jersey.
Ms. Hu began her legal career as an associate attorney at Amir Alishai & Associates, where she worked hard from 2017 to 2019 before becoming a full attorney at MG Law Group LLC. With expertise in real estate law and corporate consulting, she’s achieved significant success in the real estate industry so far. Extremely efficient, she prioritizes the needs of her numerous clients, all of whom trust her to handle the closing of their cases, has built a strong network, and drummed up a substantial amount of business even under the shadow of COVID-19—as a result, her firm reached $20 million in sales in 2021 and then an impressive $1 billion in 2023. She also holds memberships with the Asian Pacific American Law Association, Brooklyn Business Law Association, Real Estate Association, New Jersey State Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association.
Looking ahead, Ms. Hu intends to steadily expand her firm by hiring more attorneys, especially junior attorneys, to broaden its focus beyond real estate. In addition, she aims to prioritize bilingual service in Chinese and English to effectively support the Chinese community with various legal inquiries, address a wider range of needs, and contribute to the community. To those entering her field, she advises them to choose their first job wisely, as, she said, “it will likely shape their career trajectory.”
Ms. Hu attributes much of her success and expresses the utmost gratitude to her mother’s unwavering support. Her immigrant mother embodied the American dream by accomplishing great things during her time in the United States.
