Gregory A. Obin, Registered Representative at New York Life Insurance Company, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of insurance.
From an early age, Mr. Obin was profoundly shaped by the influence of his grandfather, Andrew S. Obin, a pharmacist with the U.S. Navy who introduced him to books as a child, opening a world of ideas far beyond his immediate surroundings. By six years old, reading had become a defining part of his life; as he entered adolescence, he developed the habit of journaling. Through this practice, he learned to reflect deeply on his experiences, confront challenges with foresight, and draw meaningful lessons before obstacles became significant. These early disciplines fostered a lifelong commitment to introspection, continuous learning, and personal growth.
Upon graduating from high school, Mr. Obin—wanting to make a tangible impact—enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving as an information technology infrastructure engineer, specializing in IT infrastructure and communications systems, for the 211th Engineering and Installation Squadron from 2016 to 2022. Over the course of his accomplished military career, he traveled around the globe, working alongside teams in high-pressure environments. As a testament to his most significant achievement was being named Airman of the Year for the engineering unit—an honor that recognized his exceptional dedication, leadership, and performance during his service. In addition, he accrued such accolades as the Air Force Achievement Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, Expeditionary Service Ribbon, Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and Army Achievement Medal, among others.
After completing his service, Mr. Obin transitioned to the civilian sector as a government contractor, leveraging his technical and leadership skills in demanding operational settings. He wanted to work in a capacity that would allow him to directly shape outcomes and help others, however, which led him to the life insurance industry. He has been active as a financial professional and a registered representative within NYLIFE Securities at New York Life Insurance Company, since 2024 and 2025, respectively. He views the field as essential, providing protection and stability to families during life’s most difficult moments. Through his work—which entails cultivating enduring relationships of trust and discretion and guiding clients through complex financial decisions with clarity and confidence—he’s dedicated to helping clients safeguard and structure their financial legacies to ensure long-term security and prosperity.
Additionally, drawing on the rigor and precision of military leadership, Mr. Obin is currently writing a book that explores how the integration of military principles and sports coaching strategies can create a more decisive, principled, and enduring model of leadership in the corporate world. Beyond his professional pursuits, he holds a personal goal close to his heart—to retire his parents as an expression of gratitude. His values were deeply shaped by his family roots in the New Jersey and Philadelphia area. His mother, Gina Marie Obin, built a career as a dedicated private music instructor, while his father, Jeffrey P. Obin, established a successful business in the music industry.
