Brent David Fraser, Founder and Leader of the Sacramental Life Churches, Inc., has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the fields of cannabis and spirituality.

Attributing his success to never giving up, Mr. Fraser gravitated toward his accomplished role as a leader in cannabis religion during a transitional phase in his life. Following a divorce, he was overcome with existential questions and, upon reflection, came to realize that people and how they do things can’t be changed. Naturally introspective as an artist and musician, he thought a lot about himself, where he may have been wrong, and what he could improve in the future. He reached the conclusion that he wasn’t living his life in the best way, and instead shifted his focus on what he could be doing for others. He then began writing for the Law Offices of Matthew S. Pappas, a Washington-based firm belonging to a childhood friend who solely represents medical marijuana patients. It was there that he became involved in the legal side of cannabis as a medication and a grandiose idea came to him.

Wanting to focus on the healing aspects of cannabis—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual—Mr. Fraser believed it should be accessible to people who could use it to better soothe themselves, including those with cancer, Parkinson’s disease patients, children with autism, and veterans. He strived to make this type of healing available to everybody and decided that in order to help others, he would establish Sacramental Life Churches, Inc., a nonprofit founded in 2016 whose mission is to provide members with “spiritual counsel in conjunction with Sacramental Cannabis and its healing properties” and strengthen communities it serves. Under a conditional use permit granted by the city of Gardena, the institution stands alone in the United States as a cannabis church free and clear of any legal interference or intervention. The cannabis ministry and its impact on healing and peace—as well as its contributions to school and clothing drives—have helped him find his purpose in life.

In addition to serving as the content writer, social media director, Steward of Charity and Outreach, and executor of charities, receivership, fundraising, and corporate donations and easements at Sacramental Life Churches, Mr. Fraser has been active as the personal, spiritual, and creativity development coach at Fraser at Your Service since 2018 and founder and Steward of Charitable Outreach at Natural Healing Church of the Holy Redeemer in Seattle. Prior to establishing his place of worship, he built an impressive career as a SAG-AFTRA actor whose resume spans 30 years and several films and TV shows, such as “The Outer Limits,” “Wild Orchid II: Two Shades of Blue,” “Broken Vessels,” “Tall as Trees,” “Dark Side of Genius,” and David Lynch’s “Wild at Heart,” among many others. At the beginning of his career, after a year of coursework at the North Carolina School of the Arts, he was a prominent performer with The Group Theatre and appeared in various plays, including “Tamer of Horses” and “Tracers.” In the midst of his acting work, he served as a graphic designer and production artist for Adix Creative from 1995 to 2005; a manager, counselor, and recovery coach at Genesis Sober Living for Men from 2012 to 2014; and a writer, author, poet, songwriter, and owner within the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers from 1995 to 2019.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Fraser hopes that Sacramental Life Churches expands and even eventually has their own Vatican. He says of his new chapter, “My questions about my life turned from ‘What’s in it for me?’ to ‘How can I help?’”
