An accomplished journalist in and around Boulder County, Colorado, Mr. Lammers has been active at The Mountain-Ear, a newspaper known as the “Voice of the Peak to Peak region,” since 2019 when she joined as a staff writer. In 2021, he gravitated toward music writer and three years later, he advanced to his current position. Among his responsibilities, he conducts interviews with local, in-state, and out-state musician to write a weekly music column promoting upcoming performances and releases. In addition, he hosts, edits, and produces episodes for the newspaper’s podcast for the small news area, manages incoming emails, and uploads press releases.
As a testament to his excellence in the field, Mr. Lammers recently earned a third-place regional journalism award from the Top of the Rockies journalism competition organized by the Colorado chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. In the small news area category, he won for an episode of the Mountain-Ear podcast, an installment titled “Music of the Mountains” that featured the Tortesians, a hyperlocal band. To create the episode, he visited one of the band members’ homes to record them setting up their instruments and conducted interviews about their backgrounds. It has since generated strong engagement and projected to become the most-licensed-to episode in the podcast’s five-year history.
In addition, Mr. Lammers has lent his skills as a freelance writer and later editorial email manager at Yellow Scene Magazine since 2025. In this capacity, his responsibilities include managing the magazine’s email inbox and uploading press releases.
In the midst of growing his career, Mr. Lammers bolstered his credentials by earning a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a specialization in creative writing and a focus on playwriting, from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2024. Outside of his primary endeavors at the newspaper, he has continued writing plays independently for enjoyment. For instance, he participated in the 24-Hour Play Festival, a creative marathon in which scripts are written in 12 hours, then rehearsed and performed by actors over the subsequent 12 hours. In 2025, he found success as a theater director at Nederland Middle-Senior High School.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Lammers is focused on expanding into a variety of independent creative endeavors outside of his professional capacity. He seeks to establish a consistent professional role in writing, editing, or performance-based fields, encompassing behind-the-scenes theatrical production, on-stage acting, or hosting. His goal is to secure a foundational position that roots him in his primary creative passions while allowing him to continuously delve into his other areas of interest.
