Jaisel Salgado Oyola, Senior Software Engineer at Chatham Financial, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of engineering.

Growing up in Puerto Rico until the age of five, Mr. Salgado Oyola was always interested in computers, tinkering, and figuring out how things worked. This gravitation, coupled with an impoverished upbringing, helped him develop determination, perseverance, and a fear of failure—all of which led to his future quest for financial stability and success.

The first member of his family to attend college, Mr. Salgado Oyola earned a Bachelor of Science in computer information systems from the University of Delaware in 2011 and subsequently landed a job as a software engineer at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he worked for two years. A natural problem solver who excels at writing code and leading teams, he went on to serve in this capacity at CSC from 2013 to 2018 before finding success at Capital One. While there, as a testament to his skillset, he was recognized with the “Lead the Way” award, an honor given to just 1 percent of Capital One’s employees, in 2022. Around this time, he bolstered his already impressive credentials by attaining status as a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator and an AWS Certified Solutions Architect and Associate through Amazon Web Services, Inc.

Since 2023, Mr. Salgado Oyola has excelled at Chatham Financial, where he assumes a more substantial leadership position. The Pennsylvania-based company specializes in financial risk management, through which he delivers advisory and technology solutions for debt and derivatives, such as hedging, accounting, and compliance, across various aspects of software engineering. His work directly benefits both internal and external clients.

Looking ahead, Mr. Salgado Oyola envisions himself climbing up the leadership ladder and ultimately influencing, coaching, and mentoring colleagues and wielding greater control over processes and teams. He’s committed to continuously growing his skills and advancing as well as motivated to generate income beyond his company role to continue providing a better life for his family than he experienced growing up. He and his wife, Catherine, have two children—Melanie and Sebastian.
