Adam Shereef Akeel, Esq., Attorney at Akeel & Valentina, PLC, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of law.

Mr. Akeel gravitated toward his career at a young age, having grown up watching his father, Shereef Akeel, a successful lawyer, work firsthand. He would spend a lot of time in his father’s office reviewing cases and witnessing him during trials, all of which piqued his interest in the law. Also inspired by his father’s commitment to justice and social change, he developed his passion for positively impacting society on a larger scale. Upon earning a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Psychology and English from Albion College in Michigan in 2013, he pursued a law degree at Wayne State University, from which he graduated in 2016. Wielding experience across firms such as Free Legal Aid Clinic, Inc. and Vandeveer Garzia, he subsequently joined his father’s national firm, Akeel & Valentina, PLC, eager to continue the family mission to utilize the law to make a difference in people’s lives.

In his role, Mr. Akeel works with other firm members to “prosecute fraud, hate, and corruption in all its forms,” including cases related to Medicare/Medicaid fraud, pharmaceutical fraud, civil rights cases, whistleblower cases, and class actions, among others.

Admitted to practice through the U.S. District Courts in Michigan, Virginia, Florida, and California, Mr. Akeel has made a strong impact on the industry, having been named among the “40 Under 40” by National Trial Lawyers in 2023 and “Most Influential Attorneys of 2024” by USA Today in 2024. In addition, he was recognized as the “Most Influential Lawyer of 2024” by Lawyers of Distinction. Amid his career, he maintains a further connection to the field as a member of the State Bar of Michigan and an official member of the Lawyers of Distinction since 2023. Looking toward the future, Mr. Akeel has set a goal to expand the family firm. Throughout his time there, he has discovered a love for teaching and sharing all the knowledge his father passed down to him. So, his ultimate mission is to preserve his father’s legacy while building upon it.
