Amir Hermidas, PhD, Quantitative Researcher at Periodikal, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of economics.
An experienced economist with a background in quantitative research, modeling, and forecasting, Dr. Hermidas established Periodikal to cater to the data needs of advisory, private equity firms, and banks. Guided by his leadership as co-founder, the company primarily focuses on providing data, analytics, and monitoring services for capital providers to oversee the financial performance of portfolio companies. Before this business forming, he was active as an economist and a quantitative researcher at Morgan Stanley from 2019 to 2022, an economist and a quantitative researcher at Credit Suisse from 2016 to 2019, and an economist, a quantitative researcher, and a vice president at Citigroup Inc. from 2015 to 2016. He has also previously been active as a researcher at Columbia University, the University of London, and Kingston University and launched his career as the director of commodity research at MALATIC.
Outside of his primary endeavors, Dr. Hermidas has lent his efforts to such organizations as the Madison Square Park Conservancy, where he served as an associate board member, the Academy of International Business, and Upwardly Global. He has also been a dedicated member of the Association of International Business since 2011, the American Economic Association since 2013, and a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society since 2010. Dr. Hermidas prepared for his professional journey by earning a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Science in Economics and Finance from the University of Kent and a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from Kingston University.
In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Hermidas has long been an avid mountaineer, climbing some of the most challenging peaks around. However, he nearly gave up attempting to make a particularly difficult ascent; in the final stretch, just 100 meters from the summit, the elevation was so extreme that he found it hard to breathe. The peak was a staggering 18,000 feet high and was volcanic, which meant sulfur was in the air during the morning climb. Despite this, his determination to finish what he had started kept him going. Throughout his life and career, he attributes his success to hard work, determination, and perseverance.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Hermidas wishes to continue expanding his endeavors in the coming years. He also intends to devote more time to charitable causes, contributing positively to society.
