Jacques Monet Thomas, Owner at LaJay Logistics Inc., has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of financial service.

After accruing four decades of military experience and professional experience in government, Mr. Thomas launched his own brokerage company in 2020 and has been excelling as its owner ever since. As of February 2023, LaJay Logistics Inc. has secured eight contracts and generated around $40,000 in profits—with a focus on assisting veterans and small businesses in the industry and providing opportunities for those who face challenges in getting started. Certified as a minority-owned business enterprise and a service-disabled veteran-owned small business, LaJay Logistics strives to enable more jobs for disabled veterans and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Upon graduating from high school, Mr. Thomas joined the U.S. Air Force, where he worked in logistic inventory management from 1980 to 1999. In the midst of his military career, he served as a local purchasing specialist for the U.S. federal government and a distribution and window clerk for the U.S. Postal Service from 1994 to 2005. He subsequently advanced to a supervisor role before becoming a maintenance and building custodian at USPS in 2009, a position he has maintained. Wanting to leave a legacy for his five children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, he launched his business during COVID-19, and despite those challenges, he overcame them and pursued his certifications to continue working while waiting for business profitability. He attributes his success to his exceptional character and ability to establish a strong rapport with people.

Throughout his busy career, Mr. Thomas has pursued higher education, bolstering his skills with an Associate of Science in behavioral sciences and education, an Associate of Science in elementary education and teaching from Florida State College at Jacksonville, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Jacksonville.  He has also maintained affiliation with his military past as a member of the American Legion, American Veterans Association, Disabled American Veterans, as well as the Jacksonville Urban League.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Thomas strives to pass LaJay Logistics to one of his sons so he can retire. A man of faith, his motto is, “Trust in the Lord with all of that heart and lean not into that understanding.”
