Delton Good, Owner at Meadow View Jerseys, has been recognized as a Marquis Emerging Leader for their contributions and achievements in the field of agriculture.

Driven by an innately strong work ethic and the ability to plan well, Mr. Good has found success as the owner and operator of a thriving dairy farming business that spans 12 acres and numerous products—including milk, yogurt, cheese curds, and kefir. Raised in a conservative Mennonite family, he grew up on a farm in Lancaster County in Pennsylvania, where he milked cows and shipped milk from a very young age. When he was 15, he worked his first job off the farm, which involved butchering turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. Subsequently, he gained work experience in construction for a year, landscaping with his brother-in-law during the summer for five years, contributed at a homeowner farm during the winters for five years, and delivering feed to a mill for four years.

At 26, Mr. Good and his wife, Bridgett, sought out a property to purchase, on which they could have cows. His mother directed the couple to Meadow View Jerseys in Leola, which kept more than 40 cows and multiple products and locally-sourced groceries from a store on the farm. According to an article published by LNP Media Group, the property’s owners were going to be selling the farm in a matter of months—during which time the Goods trained under the owners as they would ultimately inherit the elaborate operation in 2020. Devoting themselves to continuing the successful dairy farm business has provided him with the greatest sense of fulfillment in his life. With expertise in cows and processing, he processes and bottles milk; makes yogurt, pasteurized butter, cheese curds, and drinkable yogurts; maintains the farm and store; supervises a few employees; and manages the business’ website. When he isn’t working hard on the farm, he actively volunteers at the local church.

In the next few years, Mr. Good hopes to start a family, as well as turn the dairy farm into a statewide business.
